Greek yoghurt or sour cream can be used instead.

Kosher salt

Add a pinch of kosher salt, if using.

The formula for the cake

  • Step 1:

    Prepare three 8-inch square baking pans by lining them with parchment paper and placing them in an oven preheated to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).

  • Step 2: 

    In a sizable mixing basin, cream together the butter and sugar. Mix the butter and sugar for about three minutes with a hand mixer on medium speed.

  • Step 3: 

    In a large basin, whisk together the buttermilk, oil, extract, and salt. Whisk together the eggs, sour cream, and melted biscoff spread.

  • Step 4: 

    Blend the baking powder, baking soda, and flour together in a medium bowl.

  • Step 5: 

    Use a butter mixer to almost blend half the dry ingredients, half the wet ingredients, and the biscoff cookie crumbs. Add the remaining dry ingredients to the liquid and stir until completely blended.

  • Step 6:
